Lichfield Bower is a traditional carnival held in Whit week, on Bank Holiday Monday. Local companies, businesses, schools - in fact, all local community projects - get involved in this fun day.

At 8am all our staff and children met at the nursery to get dressed into their costumes, then with lorry in tow, we travelled down to the meeting place on Cherry Orchard to join all the other floats. The fabulous atmosphere started the minute we arrived.
As we added the final touches continued to our lorry, the staff went even further by having their faces painted by volunteers from the nursery - how silly we looked! There was lots of anticipation and excitement as the judges approached. The judges for the day were Joanne Malin (an ex local news presenter and local radio DJ) and Adrian Jackson (the artistic director from our local theatre).
After an anxious wait of an hour, we were presented with 3rd prize, which as you can imagine raised lots and lots of cheers and roarsssssssss from all the animals on the float! Then all the floats processed right through the town centre, to the sound of lots of cheers and clapping from the thousands of people that lined the streets.
It felt fantastic to be part of a community project and take part in this wonderful day.
