Comments: At last a common sense approach - thank goodness. It was rediculous having to sign a form everyday that you
thought your child might require calpol, especially when you sign a form when you register with the nursery to say that they can give emergency medicine.
This is great as it is now in line with other nursery's. Thank you so much.

Comments: Having read your recent email regarding a change to the administration of medicine to a child, I would like to express that I would wish to be informed prior to
any medication being administered. Whilst I have no objection to the use of calpol, in principle, I would like to know the reason for its use prior to it being given
especially if my child has a high temperature. I am not so familiar with the side effects or worries associated with piriton which I believe is an anti histamine.
I would like to have this information as a parent prior to giving consent for it's use.

Comments: I am very pleased you have decided to take a more common sense approach to non-prescribed medicines which I believe is in the best interests of the
children who will no longer have to suffer pain or minor cold symptoms without parents having to administer it personally which really is not necessary as the
staff at the nursery are fully capable of assessing the need for these medicines themselves.

Comments: I really love this nursery and my daughter is settling in really well! I'm so pleased about this change in policy; from experience at my son's nursery,
it is great that they can administer calpol for a high temperature. In most cases this works wonders and the child is fine after a short while! But does this mean
that they still have to be collected from nursery? At my son's nursery he would be monitored and if he was still unwell after a certain time, then I would be asked
to collect him.

Comments: The new emergency medicine policy is a fantastic idea that I fully support. The sooner medicines such as Calpol can be administered
when a child has a fever the quicker their temperature can be normalised, reducing the risk of febrile convulsions. You can never predict when your
child is going to be unwell, and this is a much-needed common-sense approach.

Comments: I think it's an excellent idea about the new emergency medicine policy. I'd also like to mention that I thoroughly enjoyed our very
interactive parent's coffee morning the other week. We had great fun and it was a fantastic opportunity to talk to other parents and get to know
Lucy's carer's better, and also to exchange funny stories. The staff who care for our daughter are genuinely interested in her wellbeing and
interact with her so well. They are constantly using Lucy's interests as inspiration for activities and themes. She loves going to nursery and
I am really happy that I can be confident without doubt that she's getting the best care. Thank you very much.

much thoughts into this. Indeed Hounslow Day Nursery's work is outstanding.

Comments: I think this is a very good idea, especially for the use of Calpol. Will you be issuing guidelines as to what you would
call "Emergency use" ie Even though parents will sign consent forms, would you give the child the medicine only after parental contact to tell them
they are unwell or if it is obvious that the child has a fever/is in pain give it to them and then advise the parent?

Comments: I think the common sense approach to medicine is indeed the way to go. Makes a lot more sense for the nursery

get the parents sign off - assuming allergies etc have been taken into account.
