The baby room at Battersea Day Nursery & Pre-School
Our baby room is an oasis for our little ones to begin their learning journey. We take on board information from parents as we believe they are the primary educators. Babies enjoy the experiences of one to one time with their key person, investigating heuristic baskets, musical instruments, sensory boards and board books.
We also have a separate sensory room where they can explore textures, sounds and lights and a separate sleep room where they can have undisturbed, restful sleep.
The toddler room at Battersea Day Nursery & Pre-School
Our toddler room builds on the sensory skills they learnt as babies and allows for the introduction of a wider range of sensory resources where they can add another dimension to their play.
In the toddler room the children are challenged to be more independent as they are given opportunities to make choices, help in tidying away and sit for circle time.
High quality wooden furniture and resources from childcare experts ‘Community Playthings’ also encourages and supports their increasing physical skills. Staff are in tune with children’s development and they plan age appropriate activities to develop and enhance these skills.
The nursery room at Battersea Day Nursery & Pre-School
Our nursery room provides a fun and stimulating environment where our children learn skills through play and discover a love for learning.
With clearly defined areas and a variety of role play experiences, children learn to share and take turns, learn how to negotiate with each other, start learning how to problem solve as well as starting to manage self-care routines.
Their room rules consist of having ‘kind hands’, ‘listening ears’, ‘walking feet’ and ‘looking eyes’. These rules help the children to begin to manage their behaviour in an appropriate way for their level of understanding.
The preschool room at Battersea Day Nursery & Pre-School
Our pre-school room is led by our qualified teacher and boasts state of the art interactive ICT equipment, which provides the children with hands on experience to research and learn about a variety of topics bringing to life their interests. Their touch screen computer has pre-loaded activities linked to literacy, numeracy and science, which also support their increasing knowledge of counting, matching number to quantity, recognising and sounding out letters as well as discussing similarities and differences.
It is a high priority that our children are ready for school. To ensure they are ready, we teach them to manage their care routines with support from their teacher such as getting dressed independently, knowing where to place and find their belongings, serve their meals, play respectfully with their peers and make independent choices in their play.
The outdoor spaces at Battersea Day Nursery & Pre-School
One of our most enjoyed areas is our large, spacious adventure garden where children have the opportunity to run, ride, slide and explore. It is sectioned into different areas ensuring age and stage appropriate activities are provided at all times, with a separate garden for the younger children to explore at their own pace.
The garden has undergone a £50,000 development and includes many exciting features giving the children a range of outdoor experiences. We take pride in creating learning areas, which include a music wall, growing area, math area, construction area and a platform for mark making and role play.
