The nursery room at Bush Hill Park Day Nursery & Pre-School
Our light airy nursery room provides a beautiful setting for our 2-3 year old children to learn and play.
The room is overseen by room leader, Jacki Booth. As the nursery room caters for 18 children, friendships are formed easily and independence is encouraged. The room is well organised with a broad range of resources easily accessible, so the children thrive from this whilst knowing there is still someone close by for support should they need it.
Our nursery room gives children the chance to become independent, through developmental activities like self-serving at food times and potty training. There are creative, physical, construction and cosy areas and there are lots of opportunities for children to develop their relationships with other children, using puppets, books and play materials.
Children access the garden daily, even in the rain or snow we can go out in our bodysuits and explore.
The preschool room at Bush Hill Park Day Nursery & Pre-School
Our well-attended pre-school environment has so much for the children to explore and is over seen by room leader, Kirsty Thurlow. With a capacity of 25 children per day, the preschool children are set on their 'readiness for school' journey, incorporating letters, sounds, maths and developing social skills. We are extremely lucky to have a qualified teacher supporting this transition.
Parents are welcome to feed in suggestions regarding their children's learning and are encouraged to take part in regular events. The room is designed to enhance all aspects of learning and development and has focused areas for our 3 - 5-year-old children.
Children access the garden daily and go on trips twice a year. Pre-School have previously visited Paradise Wildlife Park and the Milfield Theatre to see Cinderella. The room includes a range of learning experiences to capture their imaginations and promote independence. We have a fantastic touch screen computer that allows the children to access scientific, mathematical and literacy games. The SMARTboard supports the children's learning and allows them to explore their interests. The children thoroughly enjoy our extracurricular activity 'Super Sport' which is held on Fridays, carrying out a range of sporty lessons from gymnastics to rugby.

Ciydem Cafer, Nursery Manager
I have worked for Asquith for 5 years. I studied Level 3 Cache Diploma in Childcare and Education and worked my way up in the company from a Nursery Nurse to Room Supervisor, Third in Charge, Assistant Manager and now Nursery Manager. I feel very proud to work for such a great company that provides the best childcare for all our children and support for all us staff as individuals.
Kirsty Thurlow, Acting Assistant Manager
I have worked for Asquith since 2013 and have achieved a Diploma in Childcare and Education at college. I started at Asquith as a Nursery Nurse, Third in Charge and most recently Acting Assistant Manager. I really enjoy the new challenges of being a part of the Management team and look forward to working with the them to take Bush Hill Park Day Nursery forward.
Jacki Booth, Acting Third in Charge
I have been working for Asquith for 3 years, prior to this I gained my Level 3 BTEC in Childcare and then went onto complete a degree in Primary Education. During my time at Asquith I have progressed from Lunch Cover to Nursery Nurse and I am now Room Leader. I have also completed my Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) training through Asquith. I am now ready to take on new challenges and learn more about the nursery as Acting Third in Charge.
Our Nursery Cook
"My name is Emma Ellis. I have been with Asquith since 2006 nearly 10 years ago. I started as a supply cook and settled at Hatch-End Nursery at the end of 2006. I restructured the whole kitchen and put into place strategies to enable it to run to its full capacity. I then transferred to Bush Hill Park Nursery in 2008 and I have been here since.
I have experience of working in the Catering Industry my whole adult life. This covers running my own restaurant back home, then into nursing homes, primary and secondary schools and finally settling into nurseries in the UK. I have a passion for good tasting, nutritious food and have a genuine desire to serve the children within the nursery. I love to spend time talking with parents talking about food and giving tips on how to get fruit and vegetables into meals. I am a practical, hands-on person and I have a genuine desire to continue to serve the nursery. In my spare time I enjoy baking and attending church. "

Testimonials about Bush Hill Park Day Nursery & Pre-School
I felt compelled to write a testimonial to elucidate how impressed I have been with my son’s settling in period at Bush Hill Park Nursery. As an experienced primary school teacher, I have had many dealings and interactions with Early Years Practitioners and the staff at Bush Hill Park nursery have truly surpassed all expectations. Each member of staff (from the relief staff through to the office manager) is personable and welcoming. Every member of staff we have met has gone out of their way to introduce themselves and to begin to develop a relationship with my son by understanding his likes and interests. Even when we met the cook outside of nursery, she stopped and took the time to ask me how my son was setting in and to make sure he was still enjoying his food – which he does!
I was offered the opportunity to stay with my son for his first settling in session but felt so reassured by Duygu’s competence and expertise that I was comfortable enough to leave him immediately – despite having never left him before. The way in which Duygu has managed my son’s needs (and mine!) has been commendable. She has ensured that she has fully understood my son’s needs and my concerns and has always made time to discuss things as they arise. Duygu is professional yet personable; and her understanding of children and their development is impressive and has enabled me, in the capacity of a parent, to better facilitate my son’s cognitive growth and overall development.
Like Duygu, the other staff in the Baby Room are excellent. Letitia is calm yet confident and manages my son wonderfully. She takes the time to relay my son’s day to us and is always able to give us a personal account of a particular event during the day that he has really enjoyed which is exceptionally comforting. She truly is an asset to the nursery. Lorraine has been so warm and compassionate and has such a natural instinct when it comes to the care of babies. She is able to pick up subtle cues from my son that indicate that he is tired, hungry or has an additional need, which has been particularly invaluable to me as my son has bilateral hydronepronesis (a medical condition that affects his kidneys) which is managed by Great Ormond Street Hospital. Carolyn takes such pride in her role and is always so positive and cheery. She dotes on all of the children and like the other members in the team, always makes herself available to answer questions about the day or about nursery routines.
The staff in the Baby Room are expertly managed and led by the managers at the nursery: Kirsty (Assistant) and Ciydem (Nursery Manager). The managers at the nursery have gone above and beyond to ensure that my expectations have been met. They have provided an excellent range of times for my son to complete his settling sessions despite being inundated with other babies settling at the same time. As my son has always struggled to nap outside of home, Ciydem and Kirsty ensured that many of his settles would provide him with time to nap at nursery - which had been my primary concern. They keep themselves fully updated as to the progress of each child and take pleasure from interacting with the children in each of the rooms throughout the day. It is fantastic as a parent to be able to call the nursery and have the manager be able to respond with an up-to-date response about my son as she has just come back from visiting the Baby Room.
When an issue arose recently (due to the overlap in management from when Gemma, who previously managed the nursery, had completed our paperwork) Ciydem and Kirsty dealt with the issue expertly and ensured that I was satisfied with the resolution. They greet my son (and me!) with a smile and always make time to talk to us which has enabled us to build a great rapport with them which has been instrumental to the overall settling process.
I am so pleased that I chose Bush Hill Park Nursery for my son’s childcare and would like to express my gratitude to the staff who have all worked so hard to ensure that the settling in experience (which I had previously been dreading!) has been so positive.
K.Prodromou, Parent, August 2016
My son loves his time at nursery and asks me every morning 'is today nursery day?'. It is great to watch him develop his social skills. He talks about all his friends and what they played or learnt. As a sensitive child I was not sure how he would take to the teachers and being in a group of kids. He has started a different nursery in the early half of last year and became very withdrawn and unhappy, si I took him out. However, I have never worried, Charlie (his key worker) and everyone else did a fantastic job at making him feel welcome, relaxed and most of all happy. Just what every mum wants to see.
Mrs. D, Parent, April 2016
Since starting at Bush Hill Park nursery, My son has developed in leaps and bounds. His social skills have improved and he clearly enjoys his days at nursery. He is more independent and he has made noticeable progress. As well as being professional and caring, the staff are also very approachable, friendly and happy to listen and advise. We are very happy to have chosen Bush Hill Park nursery and wouldn't dream of sending our son anywhere else.

Mrs. P, Parent, April 2016
I could not be happier with the way my son has settled into nursery and developed. Asquith Bush Hill Park is a lovely kind environment and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I visited a number of nurseries before returning to work and I knew immediately once I'd visited Asquith that it was right for my little boy. He has grown in confidence and come on in leaps and bounds. Everyone at the nursery has been brilliant, nothing has ever been too much for the staff. We receive detailed daily reports on what he has done during the day. A big thank you to all the staff for making my little man comfortable, settled and happy and us a very relieved Mum & Dad.

Mr. H, - Pre-School Parent
Pre-School staff are very committed and attentive to my son's needs. My son is constantly learning and developing skills and feels very comfortable and happy at Pre-School. Staff in the Pre-School room are always welcoming and friendly, feedback information about my son on a daily basis and always show enthusiasm and excitement in all the activities they organise with children, which allow them to thrive in a well supported and nurtured environment.

I'm really pleased with the care that my daughter receives at Asquith Bush Hill Park. I've been impressed with the range of activities from life skills to drama to trips in the local area and the skills that my daughter is learning. Sofia Christou, Pre-School Parent, January 2016
On a personal note, I just want to thank your team for making my son feel so safe and happy at nursery. In his last nursery he used to hyperventilate every morning just at the thought of going, and after 4 months it only got worse, but no he looks forward to nursery and is so much happier.
D. Boleto, Parent, January 2016
I am very pleased to read about Katrina's progress. The staff has been amazing and helpful and I have complete trust in Asquith and members of the staff. No issues. 100% satisfaction.
