Childcare for the Under 2s in Cardiff
Our under twos room has a designated team of staff that support the development needs of children who are able to walk or crawl.
The room is open plan and arranged with separate areas for children who are mobile in our baby area. When children have developed and are confident in their walking skills, they then move into the toddler area within the under 2s room.
Both areas have sensory activities available to stretch young babies’ minds and bodies. The babies have lots of opportunities to explore textures using their mouths, hands and feet. The baby area also contains treasure baskets which will be based around a theme or type of object, e.g. wooden items or things that roll. Designated members of staff work within the under 2s room to ensure continuity of care and support to parents. Our fantastic settling in system ensures each child and their parents have made secure attachments to key persons in the Under 2s room
Our under-twos team take a completely flexible approach to each day. Cots are provided in the room to ensure your baby is safe at all times for non-mobile children and sleep mats are used for toddler children who need a daytime nap. Staff are continuously able to monitor your child whilst they sleep to ensure their safety and wellbeing at all times.
Individually planned experiences link to the 'Birth to Three Matters' framework for children aged 0-3 years. Continuous provision is available for our toddlers through sand, water and malleable play such as play dough. Sensory play through food and craft experiences. Our outdoor play is designed to ensure that the children will learn strength and agility, co-ordination, balance and timing, and also develop a positive attitude towards a healthy lifestyle.
We have a purpose-built nappy change area within each room. This is to ensure that the correct ratio is maintained at all times. Nappies, wet wipes and creams are to be provided by parents. Your child’s nappy will be checked and changed throughout the day and will be recorded on their daily progress sheet. Individual feedback is provided each day when you collect your child.
