At Caterham, we want to make sure your child feels happy and secure when you leave them with us, which is why we offer up to eight weeks worth of free settling in sessions tailored to your child.
We have been awarded the Surrey Quality Assurance accreditation, which enabled our childcare practitioners to raise standards in day care and education beyond the minimum requirements set by Ofsted.
Delicious, healthy and nutritional meals are freshly cooked on-site using ingredients sourced from trusted suppliers. We hold a 5* EHO rating for food safety and hygiene. Our menus change seasonally and we cater for all dietary and religious needs. Please see the menu tab above for our current dishes.

How to find Caterham Day Nursery & Pre-School in Caterham
We are located close to the M25 and on the bend of Burntwood Lane as you reach the top of the hill. Follow the long lane where you'll find plenty of parking at the front of the nursery.
Our nearest train station is Whyteleafe South Train Station, a 20-minute walk from the nursery.
We are located within the catchment of many schools which include private schools – Caterham, Oakhurst Grange, Warlingham Park and state schools – St Johns, Audley, Hillcroft, St. Francis, Whyeteleafe, St. Peters and St Paul’s and Woodlea Primary School.

The baby room at Caterham Day Nursery & Pre-School
Our baby room can accommodate up to six babies from 3 months to 14 months. It is a bright and spacious with a comfortable rocking chair for relaxed feeding times as well as a special sensory area. The babies can explore a variety of age appropriate resources with free flow access to a special, dedicated baby garden.
The toddler room at Caterham Day Nursery & Pre-School
Our toddler room can accommodate up to 12 toddlers in an engaging environment, with resources and activities appropriate to the children’s age and stage of development.
The toddler room provides defined spaces, which allow the children to become engrossed in their play and encourages their growing independence and physical skills.
The children are also able to develop their physical skills with an indoor climbing frame, toddle boxes and a large, dedicated under 2’s garden.
The nursery room at Caterham Day Nursery & Pre-School
The Nursery Room caters for up to twenty children. There are a variety of areas to explore with many exciting activities such as sand and water play, painting, mark making, building with wooden blocks, small world area, a book corner, role-play area, puzzles, shape sorters and playing and singing with musical instruments.
We also focus on potty training in the nursery room, supporting parents and carrying on any routines from home. Toilets, potties and nappy changing facilities all in the same room supporting the children’s independence.
The preschool room at Caterham Day Nursery & Pre-School
Pre-school can take up to 34 children. They have a well-equipped learning environment with state=-of-the-art resources such as a light table, interactive SMART board and touch screen computer.
The staff are supportive and recognise each child’s individual learning skills. They provide teaching time in small groups throughout the day to prepare the children for starting school.
They also have an African snail as the room's pet, which is a source of great fascination!
The outdoor spaces at Caterham Day Nursery & Pre-School
Our amazing adventure garden is stunning and there is so much exploring to look forward to each day. It has an amazing climbing frame and a planting area, which teaches children to care for the world around them.
The whole garden can be seen from our very impressive star feature, the children’s adventure fort, which even has its own lighting.

Lisa Woodley, Acting Manager
Lisa has worked for Asquith Nurseries and Caterham Day Nursery & Pre-School since leaving college in 1997 with her NNEB. After a small gap working two summer seasons at holiday camps, she returned and has been with us ever since. Lisa has progressed from being a shy Nursery Nurse to a more confident Assistant Manager in 2009. Her own child attended the nursery and as such has seen the nursery from both staff and parental perspective, giving her a greater empathy with new and current parents.
Natalie Lloyd-Evans, Acting Assistant Manager
Natalie came to Caterham Day Nursery & Pre-School in 2014, after completing a degree at University in Drama and performance studies. Since starting at the nursery, Natalie has also completed an NVQ 3 in Childcare Studies and stepped into the position of Pre-School Room Leader. She has gained experience when partaking in various work placements based in school environments giving her the knowledge needed to support the Pre-School children developing their school readiness.
Vicki Scourfield, Acting Third in Charge
Vicki had previously attended Caterham Day Nursery & Pre-School on work experience before joining the team as a staff member in 2012. She has since worked in all rooms but is enjoying her role as Room Leader for Nursery Room. Whilst working, Vicki also completed her NVQ 3 in Childcare and has developed her knowledge and skills to provide a range of opportunities for the children in her care to experience.
Vanessa Evans, Cook
Vanessa started at Caterham Day Nursery & Pre-School in 2001 as a Nursery Assistant; she worked in all rooms and completed her NVQ 3 in childcare while working. In 2004, she took on a temporary role in the kitchen to help cover the cook’s absence and eventually took on the fulltime position. Vanessa provides a varied menu and caters for all dietary requirements from first stages of weaning to complex allergies. All safety standards are met with an achievement of a 5 star rating.
Sharon Stainsby, Kitchen Assistant
Sharon joined the team at Caterham Day Nursery & Pre-School in 2016 as Kitchen Assistant. She supports the cook in providing food that is prepared and served accordingly to all children, looking after the staff too. Sharon on occasion will also spend time within the rooms where she gets an insight into daily routines and which meals are particularly enjoyed by the children. When in the kitchen, Sharon helps to ensure all safety standards are met too.
