The baby room at Chantry Hall Montessori Nursery
In the baby room, we aim to create a cosy homely atmosphere where babies and toddlers are cared for as if they were at home.
They are given interactive and stimulating activities which use developmentally appropriate toys and play equipment.
The Early Years Foundation Stage, which covers all areas of development and learning from birth to five, is implemented as a foundation for planning the curriculum. The adult / child ratio is 1:3. The baby area has as a separate sleep zone, changing room and outdoor play area.
Babies have a high level of interaction during which the following activities are introduced:
- Treasure baskets
- Singing, Music & Movement
- Messy play
- Motor skills
plus many other activities that help a baby’s overall development.

The preschool room at Chantry Hall Montessori Nursery
In Nursery the Foundation Stage curriculum is taught using the Montessori materials, aiming to meet the Early Learning goals by the end of the Foundation stage by using stepping stones towards the goals. Of course, every child is an individual and staff take this into account when planning activities and experiences.
