The baby room at Enfield Day Nursery

Our baby and toddler room at Enfield Day Nursery is a lovely airy and spacious area that can hold up to 12 children working on a ratio of 1:3.

Our approach is to follow the routine set by the parents so that there is continuity of routine for each of our children. Our unique settling-in process helps the babies to feel at home and a smooth transition helps them to build secure relationships with their key person. Our daily feedback sheets help the parents to know how their child’s day has been and what exciting things they learned.

Our large bright baby and toddler room offers an exciting and stimulating environment to encourage them to explore and develop, concentrating on their physical, social and emotional development and communication and language. It offers a largely carpeted area for your children to explore their surroundings comfortably, using a variety of their senses. Splashing and getting really messy is what toddlers enjoy the most, therefore we have a large messy play area where children can get creative exploring new and exciting activities every day.

Our staff team provide activities that are not only age appropriate but also suitable for each child’s competence. The room has been furnished with beautifully handmade wooden furniture and resources all at child-level, with equipment and toys specifically designed to support early years learning and invite exploration.

The room is attached to a sleeping room which provides a calming environment with individual cots allowing a more comfortable sleep experience.

With their own garden children are able to free flow between indoors and outdoors giving them many more learning opportunities.

The nursery room at Enfield Day Nursery

Our cosy nursery room can cater for up to 12 children on a ratio of 1:4. The transition from baby and toddler room to nursery room is based on the individual needs of each child, so the room is adapted to meet these, such as younger children who still require a nap in the afternoon.

Our nursery room provides a fun, safe and stimulating environment where our children learn skills through play and discover a love for learning. Children are given the opportunity to learn through music and movement, sensory play, malleable play as well finding their creative side with a range of mark making activities. With a lovely home corner included the children are supported in their learning and development of speech and social interaction.

Our nursery room encourages children to develop their independence skills, especially around toilet training.
With age-appropriate resources, imaginative & creative play, and many other activities during the day, we believe that we are giving our nursery children the best start for entering pre-school.

The preschool room at Enfield Day Nursery

Our large and bright Preschool room can cater for up to 14 children on a ratio of 1:8. The staff team encourage all children to take the lead, constantly ask their opinions about activities and satisfying their curiosity by explanation, investigation and engaging them in sustained shared thinking.

There is a more structured approach as they are being prepared for school with group activities such as 'Show & Tell' , 'What’s in Paula’s bag' and the letter of the week linked to the weekly topic. The room has an exciting touch-screen computer and an interactive SMART board for science, maths and literacy. Music and movement sessions support the teaching of letters and sounds that takes place weekly.

We encourage independence in pre-school by allowing the children to put on their coats and shoes by themselves, help with food preparation, let them serve themselves and encourage them to resolve any issues they may come across.

The Pre-School children have the free-flow access to a large garden with a big climbing frame, giving them the chance to extend their learning on our all-weather environment.

Our final event is Graduation for the Pre-School children as we say an emotional farewell before they leave us, destined for big school and the next chapter of their lives.

During this time, I have gained many qualifications in Early Years, including a three-year early years degree in Child Centred Inter-professional Practice at Kingston University, achieving a first class honours classification.

I have always possessed a genuine passion for childcare and strongly believe in the importance of educating, nurturing and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children.
