The baby room at Guildford Day Nursery & Pre-School

The baby room is a lovely, bright and airy room with a separate sleep area for six children. The room is registered for 15 children aged three months to two years, on a ratio of 1:3. We offer a home from home environment with staff working to the routines implemented by our parents.  The main playroom is set into different areas, as defined within the EYFS guidelines.

These areas consist of a black and white sensory area, to stimulate the younger babies' visual development, and a home corner, to encourage role play situations.  We also have a book corner, which is a cosy and comfortable area with a variety of different books, including dual languages, to engage the children and encourage language skills and concentration.

The children have access to garden time daily and also have the opportunity to go on walks to the local castle grounds and park areas.

The nursery room at Guildford Day Nursery & Pre-School

Our main nursery room has 15 places for children aged 24 months to 3 years, with a 1:4 ratio.  The room is split in two, providing creative and messy play areas as well as an area for construction, role play and book corner.

The children in the day nursery in Guildford are able to enjoy many messy activities, from play dough to body painting.  Children have daily access to the garden and make the most of one member of staff’s sports qualification.

The nursery room has the facilities to support the children with potty training and we work with parents to support this transition to make the process as painless as possible.

Our pre-school room at Guildford children's day nursery allows free-flow to the garden and has a SMART board and amazing ICT equipment.

Planned activities emphasise the early writing, maths, science and IT skills needed before starting school. The staff-to-child ratio is 1:8. The pre-school children are encouraged to become independent, laying the tables for lunch and tea, self-serving their own meals and are taught about healthy eating and hygiene.

We have links with all the local schools and encourage the teachers to come and visit the children in their own environment and introduce themselves. This has proved to be very successful in supporting their transition period into school and something we are keen to continue.

Testimonials about Guildford Day Nursery & Pre-School

Just wanted to say, our experience of Asquith's so far has been really positive. Everyone has been so friendly and caring, the girls in the baby room in particular, but all of the staff we've met - the place has a really nice feel to it. It's hard putting our son in nursery and getting used to leaving him, knowing he's in a caring, warm environment is very reassuring. Just wanted to pass on the feedback and say thank you.

We have had a very good experience with your nursery and the team and are incredibly grateful for the support and affection you have given Harry during his time there.

Aww thank you for your e-mail. He is definitely loving it there, he was in such a great mood when I picked him up yesterday after his first full week and I’m sure he is missing you all today. Thank you for taking such good care of him.

Thank you so much for your mail and for a very good first week for Ella at your nursery! It feels that we’ve/she’s gotten a really good start and we hope that this will continue going forward, we already feel so welcomed.
Nursery Room Parent - September 2015

We think that the staff has been really good to help Adam settling. The feedback everyday and the weekly summary for the settling in period are very reassuring. We've just moved from Norway and that was a lot of changes for us, new country, new house and new childcare but Adam is already taking about his new friends at school so we are very happy we chose Asquith Nursery.
Pre-School Parent - September 2015

Sadly this email is to confirm that after several very happy years at Asquith our circumstances have changed and we have to move on. They have both had a great time, learnt heaps and made loads of friends. We are very sad indeed, thanks for all your hard work over the last few years and keep in touch!
Baby and Pre-School Parents - August 2015

I would like to thank you all for your kind, love and support you have given Charlotte over the last 2 years. Although we moved over a year ago, we have been making the hour round trip as Charlotte loves you all and nursery so much! She has grown and developed in to a lovely, happy little girl and we can't thank you all enough for the amazing care you have given her. Thank you again for everything, I know she will miss you all!
Nursery Room Parent - July 2015

We are very happy with the nursery and the ladies that look after Tristan, they look happy to see Tristan every morning which is so lovely. He is very happy there, has a lot of fun, is learning a lot of things. One of the things we like in particular is how personal the care is. We are confident that if we ask for something to be done with regard to Tristan then it will be done. They also try to make sure eczema scratching is kept to a minimum while he's awake too and they are very good at applying the eczema cream that we've given. Also any worries that we have about anything they are more than happy to chat to us about them. We also love the balance between young staff and older staff, as they tend to bring diverse qualities to the nursery, it's energy and fun meeting maturity and responsibility, all the characteristics that we'd want the people looking after our child to have. This was one of the things that sets this nursery apart from others. We love all the ladies that work there, the ones that we've interacted with, Nyssa, Claire, Ellie, Jess, Gill and so on, and of course Tabitha is a great manager. She was at the Dorking Asquith nursery where our son was before and we were so happy to hear that she'd be moving to the Guildford Asquith. We're also very happy to hear that Sarah who was the cook at Dorking Asquith will now be joining this nursery. We feel the nursery is like a big family which is wonderful.
Baby Room Parent - July 2015
