Welcome to Springfields Pre-School & Day Nursery
For childcare in Lichfield and nursery services in the Lichfield area of Staffordshire
The day nursery, established since 1989 has 134 places for children aged 3 months to 5 years. Springfields has the outlook of a Victorian building, however behind this facade, there is a beautiful, purpose-built nursery that provides children with premium quality care in a loving and caring environment.
The children are organised into five groups and each child has a key person who ensures that their care is tailored to their needs and interests and that those needs are met fully during their time with us.
Our outdoor environment at Springfields is divided into two areas designed to support different age groups. This provides lots of space and opportunities for children to explore.
The open and friendly environment that we are known for is driven by highly qualified, highly experienced, long standing members of staff who have a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm when caring for our children.
We have a wide variety of extracurricular activities at Springfields, including ballet, tennis and French language lessons.
There are many opportunities for partnership with parents through parents' evenings, special events and regular 'stay and play' sessions.
Our policies and procedures, including our unique settling in sessions, are designed to give parents confidence in the safe and stimulating environment that we provide.
The nursery is within catchment of many local schools, including Chadsmead, Christchurch, St Michaels, St Josephs, St Peter’s and Paul's, Charnwood, Willows, St Chad’s, Scotch Orchard. Our nearest private school is Lichfield Cathedral School.

The room operates a 'rolling' snack time so that the children have access to fruit and water throughout the morning and afternoon, and there is a different approach to encourage children's independence throughout meal times. Children are actively encouraged to lay the table for their friends at lunch time and at breakfast and tea times they scrape their own plates and separate their waste food and cutlery into different sections which are then cleared away by the staff.
Our qualified teacher Miss Amy, is based within the preschool room and actively includes teaching time in the preschool daily routine. The outdoor spaces at Springfields Pre-School & Day Nursery
We’re incredibly proud of our garden at our Lichfield children's day nursery. Our children just love exploring the great outdoors.
There’s so much to do, learn from and discover, whatever the weather. Our fabulous Stage area is perfect for story time and role-play, while the road track has children zooming around and having fun. The tailor made climbing wall is fantastic for encouraging children to try new things, work together and grow in confidence, and we have a beautiful climbing frame and forestry area too.
Our large sandpit has recently been redeveloped allowing children to actively play and explore using their senses to assess the world around them.
The Toddler area is covered with Astroturf, which means that the children can access the outdoor area in all weathers and is a much safer surface for the children to crawl and play on.

Our Nursery Cooks at our Lichfield children's day nursery:
Julie Spilsbury, Nursery Cook
"I have worked within the nursery for over 28 years having originally started at our Rockland’s premises. I began as an Assistant Cook where I learnt and developed my basic and more complex skills as a Nursery cook. Around twelve months later I then became a top chef taking on the main responsibilities of cooking for all of the nursery children.
Beverley Kelly, Nursery Cook
"I have worked at Springfield’s for over 15 years watching the nursery grow in size and numbers over time. I began working with just one other member of staff forming a great bond and learning how to work as a pair to complete the day to day tasks within the kitchen. Whilst being with Asquith I have been given the opportunity to do a multitude of training courses including first aid and food hygiene. These training courses have helped to expand my abilities and increase my confidence within the nursery setting."
Latest news from Springfields Pre-School & Day Nursery
At Springfields nursery we decided that it would be a great challenge for staff, parents and children to ride their way to 1000 miles within a working week to raise £1000 for the British Heart Foundation. We encourage children to keep active and thought that staff and parents could all join in to show them that keeping fit can be fun!
