Testimonials about Port Solent Pre-School & Day Nursery
Lucy has been with you full-time since she was 8 months old and I'm struggling to hold back the tears as I write this letter. From the minute Rich and I walked through your door and were greeted by your smiley face and cheery disposition we immediately knew this was the nursery we wanted Lucy to attend. As we made our way through each of the rooms and saw how safe, content and happy all the children were this only reinforced our feelings that this was the only place good enough for Lucy.
I dropped her off on her first day, and despite being racked with 'working-mum guilt', I left her that morning knowing she'd be cared for by you just as much as if she was with me. Our confidence in you and your team has not faltered throughout Lucy's journey with you.
The strong bond Lucy has made with the girls as she has progressed through each of the nursery rooms is truly heart-warming, and I am devastated that this will shortly come to an end. They say a Company's biggest asset is its employees, and in the case of Asquith Port Solent this is definitely so.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for looking after our 'baby' over the last few years. Lucy has grown into a confident, cheeky little girl who, thanks to all your efforts, care and love will be ready to start her transition to school in September.
Kindest regards (from a very upset Mummy),
Mel - March 2017
It seems like only yesterday that I was visiting nurseries for Olivia and struggling to come to terms with the reality that I was actually going back to work. It is very difficult for working mums to leave their children to return to work (and it is no easier the second time round), but I drew comfort from the fact that I was leaving Olivia in such a warm and caring environment. There are very few decisions in life which you look back on and know that you made absolutely the right decision.
However, I can honestly say that choosing Asquith was one of those decisions for me. I looked at a lot of nurseries, and I admit that I had high expectations in terms of what I was looking for, and Asquith has genuinely ticked all the boxes for me. As you will remember, it took several weeks before Olivia settled at nursery and I shall never forget how much I appreciated all those settling in sessions which gave Olivia and me the time to settle into our new routine. They have paid dividends in the end because she loves coming to nursery and talks about her teachers and friends all the time when she is at home. I will also never forget Jamie's endless patience and hours of singing in the garden when Olivia cried and cried at the beginning.
To me, that encapsulates the approach at Asquith in all three of the groups that Olivia has been part of. There is a real emphasis on getting to know each child as an individual and a real sense that the staff care about that child's individual needs and interests. You have made the whole family feel so welcome and I shall never forget the fantastic start you have given Olivia. I hope that all your staff know what an important job they do, and how much they are valued. Olivia has been fortunate to have the most wonderful key workers in each of her rooms, and they have played a big part in building her confidence and her skills.
Apart from the first class care, the stimulating activities, the fantastic home cooked meals, and the clear investment in good quality resources and toys, I have really appreciated the kindness and flexibility that you, Tracey and Emma have shown when I have needed to book additional sessions from Olivia from time to time. That has made such a difference to my sanity and my ability to keep working even when other aspects of my childcare fell to pieces for various reasons! The philosophy and culture of any business are set from the top and you lead a great team with a real sense of professionalism.
I want to emphasise how sad I am that we are leaving and that there is no way I would be moving Olivia if it wasn't for the need to transition her to the pre-school which will feed into her big school. I believe that it is the right decision for Olivia in the long run, however, sad it might be for the whole family at the moment. You can be assured that I will recommend you to anyone who will listen!
I wish you, and everyone at Asquith, all the very best for the future.
Charlotte - November 2015
Thank you so much for looking after Nicholas, I'm so happy with every aspect of his care, we looked at so many nurseries before Port Solent Day Nursery and none came close. The staff are fantastic and Nicholas still talks about Becky & Abi now, he absolutely loved preschool.
Sarah - October 2015
Matthew is so happy at the nursery and it's such a huge peace of mind that he's well looked after and enjoying himself whilst I'm at work. The activities he does are varied, the food really good & healthy and the staff are brilliant. Thank you.
Sarah - October 2015
Pleased how our child has progressed whilst being at nursery. He has a good relationship with all the staff and entertains them with things he says. He has made many friends and has never had a bad day even when he has had no sleep. We would thoroughly recommend the nursery to other parents and after having a second child there is no question as to where we will be sending him to the nursery.
Kelly - September 2015
People always comment on how friendly Georges is and as much as we'd like to take all the credit as George's parents we can't. The ladies in the baby room have helped to develop Georges with messy play, singing, dancing and just letting him explore the room and space around him. When I pick him up he always has a big smile so I know he's had a good day.
Joanna - September 2015
Freya has grown from the baby room through to the preschool room and I believe the friends & nursery workers she has had through her years at the nursery have helped her immensely. Staff are generally approachable, friendly, helpful and so issues are able to be resolved swiftly. Another plus has to be the flexibility which we have greatly appreciated.
Emma Ross - August 2015
Hello, It has been a good start and we're pleased with everything so far. Elsa gets a glowing report at the end of each day (we're sure there must be some misbehaving in there somewhere!) and has grown to trust all who care for her.
Many Thanks for all the hard work.
Luke - August 2015
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all at Port Solent Day nursery for joining our family to raise Lincoln. Since Lincoln was 5 months old he has spent two days a week with you, and in this we consider you to be part of his family and community that has raised him to be the kind, intelligent, thoughtful boy he is today and will continue to grow to be.
Your kindness, professionalism and approach to early years education are incomparable. You have set him on a wonderful lifelong path of learning and friendship.
As parents, we delight in his tales of the wonderful experiences he has had at the nursery. It is no surprise to us that you maintain your outstanding status as a provider. Without your care and support, he would not have significantly improved his social skills, something he has struggled with in a family with few young peers.
We will always remember with joy his time at Port Solent Day Nursery and look forward to Zoe having the same wonderful experience. Our thanks will be with you forever.
Sarah - August 2015
Even though Port Solent was not necessarily the ideal location for us when we first visited Asquith, we loved it and no other nursery could compare! Our daughter started aged 8 months and settled quickly and for her, the transition to the toddler and nursery rooms have also been smooth. We always feel confident when leaving Erin, that she will have fun and be well looked after.
Sara - March 2015
My 2yr old son attends Port Solent Day Nursery, as did his two older sisters, which is a testament on its own! My daughters loved it here and learnt and achieved so much, hence why my son now attends. The staff are fantastic in all of the rooms and the children are happy and content. My son has really developed in his talking, understanding and general behaviour since attending the nursery.
Nathalie - March 2015
Arthur absolutely loves it at Asquith. His last key worker was Lianne and he formed a special bond with her. He calls nursery "Liannes House" so it just shows what a great homely atmosphere there is. All the staff are great. I can't recommend the place enough. Thank you for your hard work :)
Brigid - March 2015
Being a first-time parent, it was a daunting prospect, sourcing a suitable nursery for our son where we felt comfortable that he would be safe and would enjoy himself, whilst receiving attention throughout his growth and development.
Asquith made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. The nursery premises are very bright, modern, welcoming, clean and friendly. Nothing ever seems too much trouble for the staff and my son always get a cuddle on his arrival each time to help him settle, then he doesn’t look back! The staff always ask us how our sons been upon arrival so we can let them know if he woke early, or is under the weather for some reason.
The facilities are very good at the nursery and the children have varied days, including outdoor time as well as learning about Pancake Day, Chinese New Year etc. and good old sing songs and boogie mites. If the weather is bad the children get the opportunity to use up their energy in the indoor soft play area. The sessions are more structured in the nursery room than the toddler room which I feel is good based on his age, learning and development but he still gets plenty of time to free-flow in/out of the garden and explore the toys. The food he receives is healthy and varied and he certainly enjoys the puddings!
I have no hesitation in recommending Port Solent Day Nursery to any parent, as I know he is well looked after and I feel it helps his social skills, confidence and speech. Everything is tailored to suit your needs in terms of when we are ready to start potty training/the nursery will start etc. If I ever feel the need to ring up and see how my son is doing, I know they will give me honest feedback about how he’s been. It is lovely to hear (upon collecting him) what activities he’s been up to, what he has eaten etc and you can read the children’s journals anytime to check on their progress.
Fiona & Colin - March 2015
My son attends Port Solent Day Nursery and loves it! The toys, the dance studio, the swimming, the outdoor area, the food and most of all, the staff. I feel he will be very well prepared for starting school in September thanks to the care and support he has received since joining the nursery as a baby.
Rachael Hoff - March 2015
It's Cherry, Ollie Cox's mum. I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with how Becky and Kayleigh have looked after ollie. He's such a quiet, shy little boy. It's such a weight off my mind knowing he's in such wonderful care. Thank you for being so kind and understanding.
Cherry - August 2014
Elena and I would like to sincerely thank you and your team for the outstanding experience you have provided for Alexandra during her years at the nursery. Not only has she thoroughly enjoyed the experience but also we have no doubt that her experiences at Port Solent will be a positive and durable influence for the rest of her life. It has been our pleasure to hear her sharing those experiences, with such enthusiasm, to friends and family and I am sure she will miss her first teachers very much in the weeks to follow. As we look forward to adjusting to our new life overseas, we do so in the knowledge that she could not have received a higher standard than that set by you and your staff. Our sincere best wishes for the future for you, the nursery and your whole team.
Chris, Elena and Alexandra - August 2014
Sebastian loves nursery, he seems so happy playing and exploring. The girls in the baby room work very hard but it always seems calm, happy and in control. I know that he is having a brilliant time while I am at work.
I would just like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you, Jeanette, to you and your team for doing such a wonderful job in caring for Charlie and Tilly for the last 6 and a half years. I would like to say a special thank you to Becky Marshall for helping Tilly become a more confident little girl and always being so considerate of her nature along with understanding her strengths and weaknesses, I know Tilly will miss Becky very much. I will most definitely be recommending Asquith day nursery and preschool to everyone I know.
Mrs T Dance - June 2014
Before choosing Asquith as a suitable nursery for our 6-month-old we had visited 3-4 other nurseries in our local area prior to this, but Asquith was the first nursery where we immediately felt comfortable the moment we walked in. The environment is very welcoming, the rooms are spacious, bright, modern, colourful and clean. Security was my other concern, but this is very well controlled. The changing facilities, the kitchens, and the toilets for the children are clean and separated off nicely from the main room. The staff are very friendly and it just felt very right for our son during our walk around and we had no hesitation in signing up that same afternoon.
The Baby Room Team put us at ease in terms of telephoning if we are concerned, but our son settled in so quickly and I missed him more than he missed me! We were given as many settling in periods as we needed, but our son only required 3-4 sessions. I felt he received the right care and everything was tailored to our needs during his early months in terms of his routine, his naps, his bottle feeds etc.
They have lovely cots in the Baby Room whereas with other nurseries, the babies were put into buggies in dark rooms further down the corridor where they were isolated and cut off. Our son liked to be rocked to sleep rather than just put into a cot, so everything was carried out, the same as it would be at home.
Our son is now in the Toddler Room and there is so much for him to do, his daily feedback sheets have different activities on them every time, so his days are varied. He loves the indoor side and the garden immensely which I think he gets the opportunity to go into every time he is there (weather pending) but if the weather is poor, they can sometimes play in the soft play area upstairs.
I enjoy looking through our son's Incredible Learning Journal as I can see the changes and development he has made in the 9 months he has been there and all of his progress and new things he is picking up / learning / demonstrating is documented for us.
I feel Asquith has helped my son's confidence and his development has grown and his socialising skills. He runs in with open arms every morning and has a smile on his face when I collect him and always sleeps well that night.
The menus are healthy and fantastic and he eats better than we do! I would have no hesitation in recommending Asquith to fellow parents. I have peace of mind sending my son there every week because he thoroughly enjoys it and I know it's a safe and happy environment for him.
The fact the nursery has 3 Outstanding Ofsted reports in a row helps too!
Fiona & Colin - June 2014
Darcie moved to Port Solent Day Nursery when she was 2 as her previous nursery shut down. It was a difficult transition for her but was made easier by all the lovely staff. They all made her feel very welcome and adapted the settling in period to meet her needs. She now attends the Pre-School Room and is always happy to go in. She has a lovely group of friends and she is well looked after by the staff. I viewed many different nurseries in my search and I do feel confident that I have chosen the best and that they are helping to give her a really good start to her education.
Aimee - June 2014
I've been really impressed with the nursery. The staff are always so friendly and my daughter feels really at home. I especially like the way the rooms are divided into age groups. I'm planning to send my son here next year and I can't imagine my kids being anywhere else.
Cathy - June 2014
Tommy has been with Asquith Day Nursery at Port Solent since he was 6 months old. The care that he has received from then to this current day in the Pre-School Room has been 'Outstanding'!
Sam & Colin - June 2014
We were initially nervous at leaving William but the staff were so kind, helpful and confident that any concerns were put to rest very quickly. Pre-visits enabled us and William to build relationships with the staff - confirming also we had made the right choice of nursery. He is now extremely happy to go to the nursery and often talks about his adventures at evenings and weekends.
Sarah - June 2014
We would like to convey our sincere appreciation and thanks to Port Solent Day Nursery management and team for their efforts and time to take care our daughter Farin and improve her social capabilities.
Farin was admitted in the nursery since January 2014 and during this period, her progress is observed progressively.
Farnaz - June 2014
I just wanted to say that I cannot praise the staff at your Port Solent Day Nursery highly enough. They have literally bent over backwards to ensure that Willow is settled and that Mummy is happy!
We first tried to get Willow to start nursery in May, just before her first birthday. Until that point, she had pretty much been with me constantly, although we did go to lots of baby groups, at which she seemed very confident and paid absolutely no attention to me whatsoever. For this reason, my husband and I assumed that she would settle quickly at nursery, and began settling in sessions about a month before I was due to return to work. Unfortunately, it was not as we planned. Willow was incredibly distressed, and would cry continuously for 2 hours (the longest I could bring myself to leave her). All the staff tried to reassure me that they had seen extreme cases like this before, and she would eventually settle, but I could not imagine leaving her a full day when she was so upset. I was also facing the turmoil of going back to work, and living in a building site at home, as we were having major works done, so I was probably not in the best frame of mind either!
I asked if it would be possible to move her start date forward 6 months, and this was agreed.
Willow's new start date was the end of November. At the beginning of September, we started settling in sessions again. The first time we went, Willow cried for 45 minutes and would not leave my side! I wanted her to feel that this was a place where we could both be comfortable, so I spent a number of weeks, taking her twice a week, for 2 hours at a time, and staying with her the whole time - I got to know the staff and children very well! We then slowly started with me leaving the room, just for 10 minutes, which then built up, within a couple of weeks, to me being able to leave her for a few hours without any tears at all.
To cut a long story short (!), the nursery adjusted the settling in sessions specifically to Willow's (and my) needs, taking into account the problems we had had previously. They all put so many hours of work in, and the gradual process has made Willow incredibly happy there from her very first full day. The staff were so flexible and really went out of their way to make us both comfortable. I cannot thank them enough.
Ruth - January 2014
I would like to thank you for the excellent care you have given Jack over the past 3 years. As a mother, all you want is the best for your children and when it came to choosing a nursery it’s such a stressful time. All you want is for your child to be happy and grow mentally and physically. I’m so pleased I went with my gut instincts, you made us feel so welcome when we visited and Jack has turned into such a happy and confident little boy. I feel that you’re as much responsible for this as we are. I am feeling a little upset that he won’t stay here until he goes to school. If I could move you all up north that would be fantastic. I just hope Jack settles in as well at the new nursery. It meant so much all your help when Millie was born and we had to locate a new nursery short term for Jack up in Lancashire. I don’t think other nurseries would have been quite as understanding and it was one less thing for me to worry about.
Jack will miss you all so much, so will I! We wish you all the very best for the future and thank you again you’ve given Jack a fantastic start in life.
Janet, Neil, Jack and Millie - November 2013
I am writing to express huge thanks for all the work that Emma, Danielle, Karen and the rest of the team do with Eleanor. I say 'thank you' to the girls regularly, but I am not sure that it conveys all they do to help with Eleanor. We have always been thankful for your flexibility in allowing Eleanor to attend on a shift pattern. This flexibility allows my husband to spend valuable time with Eleanor. If it wasn't possible Eleanor would be in nursery full time with Matt only seeing her two weekends every two months.
Secondly, we love the professionalism and friendliness of all the staff, and how supportive and encouraging they all are. The activities and toys that Eleanor plays with and takes part in are also exciting and develop her skills at home.
My other reason for sending this was to say how reassuring it is in knowing that Eleanor is now eating and drinking at the nursery. Last week was the first time she managed a full day and we couldn’t be happier. It is wonderful to know that the staff are encouraging her desire to self-feed, although I know this can be a messy and lengthy task!
Lastly, Eleanor celebrated her first birthday this weekend. She had a wonderful time and so did all the family that attended. This was partly due to Eleanor having cuddles with all the family, some of which she doesn’t see for months. This may sound normal, but Eleanor hasn’t wanted to be held by anyone other than me or Matt since she was a month or so old! She also allowed someone else to feed her. Again this has never happened. We believe that this is largely to do with the progress she is making at nursery, in interacting with other children and adults. So for all these things, we want to say 'thank you'.
Amy and Matt - March 2013
Thanks for looking after Harrison so well, he has loved his time with you especially in the pre-school room. Harrison will miss you, and all his friends, lots. All staff are always so kind and friendly making a lovely nursery. Thanks again.
Aimee and Harrison - December 2012
We have been thrilled with the level of care Matthew has received. He has grown into such a self-assured and eager toddler, always ready to explore and play with the other children. We owe much of his enthusiasm and confidence to you and your staff. My husband and I had very high standards when interviewing new nursery facilities in Ohio. Our commitment to Matthew was to ensure that he had the same standards in a new centre as he has currently. We were lucky to find a similar institution that seems to have thriving children and a robust learning environment. We will be sure to keep in touch and send pictures as Matthew grows. Thank you for welcoming us into your facility so seamlessly. You have no idea how easy you made this transition for us.
Casey and Jason - October 2012
Thanks for all your support and care for Joseph over the last 3-4 years, and in the years before that Lauren attended. They have both thoroughly enjoyed their time at the nursery and I shall be so sorry not to see you all every week! The warm, friendly and educational environment you have provided has set them up very well for the path ahead. I feel confident that following his nursery experience, Joseph will easily settle into school just as Lauren did 3 years ago!
Sally, Scott, Joseph and Lauren - October 2012
I spoke to you briefly with reference to the staff in the baby room and how impressed we have been with them. I wanted to put something in writing in order to ensure that it was documented, Positive feedback is so important.
There are two members of staff, particularly that I would like to mention. The first is Emma, who just has the nicest manner with teary mums (which I have been on occasions)- understanding, yet able to put things into perspective with a friendly smile. The second is Danielle, who of course I rave about and I am not the only mum who thinks that she is absolutely fantastic at her job: especially in the light of the fact she is only 23. Reluctantly leaving my child to return to full-time military work is by far the hardest thing I have ever done, so much so that I was considering leaving. Had it not been for the bond that Danielle formed with Bethany, the gentle reassurance, her consistent patience with my frequent, occasionally teary phone calls and prolonged morning goodbyes; I am absolutely certain I would have resigned. I cannot thank her enough for looking after my little girl as I would look after her myself.
In danger of being a little overly gushing, I must also say how impressed we are with you. As a manager/leader myself I am very conscious that attitude originates at the top and infiltrates down through a team. Every single one of your staff has the same passionate, enthusiastic and kind manner that you do. Clearly you have instilled your values into them so thank you also. I am nervous about Bethany moving up to the ‘big girls room’ but know that without question she will be well cared for.
Harriet - October 2012
I was so sad that it was Grace's last session on Thursday morning. As you know, I have always been very happy with the care both Lila and Grace have received during their time with you. It is very obvious that the nursery is run extremely well and that all of the staff care for and take a real interest in the individual children in their rooms. Please pass on my thanks to the ladies in the nursery room for Grace's lovely card and a big thank you to everyone for looking after our girls so well over the last 3 years. With very best wishes,
Kate, Dave, Lila and Grace - August 2012
Thank you so much for the support and care you’ve shown not only to Jasmine but us as a family. We’ve had some difficult times and throughout them all you’ve been like extended family and friends. Special thanks to Sam, Nic, Becky and Gemma during Jasmine’s nursery years. These ladies have an amazing talent and Jasmine adores them, I know we’ll miss them too. We move on to the next stage with a confident, happy child and many happy memories.
Dan and Emma - August 2012
My daughter Isabella attends the nursery 3 times a week and she enjoys every minute of it. In her time at the nursery she has developed her talking skills a great deal. She has a full understanding of things around her and is constantly showing new skills from fun things like balancing and dancing to more advanced matters such as repeating phonics.
All the staff at the nursery are approachable and always show a great interest in the children individually, therefore making my daughter happy and relaxed in the nursery environment. My elder daughter also attended the nursery and the same applies. As parents, we are extremely happy with the care provided.
Nathalie - July 2012
On Wednesday morning when I tell Caleb we have arrived at nursery his face always lights up and as soon as he is out of the car he is running for the entrance to see his friends and the staff. I always leave him smiling and eating his toast. When I return in the evening, he always greets me with the same smile, having had a wonderful, busy and stimulating day.
Rachael - July 2012
Choosing a nursery for Lincoln was proving very difficult until we visited Port Solent. The atmosphere and level of care were in a different league to other nurseries we visited.
The team at Port Solent really know Lincoln and us, and really care about his wellbeing and development. Because of the consistent care from the whole team, Lincoln is thriving at nursery and we are happy to leave him having fun whilst we are at work. The standards are incredibly high at the nursery, and we feel he is in the best nursery in our area.
Sarah and Alex - July 2012
I have used this nursery since my little boy was nine months old. He is now 4 and embarking on a new phase in his life at school. Asquith has looked after him, nurtured him, taught him, entertained him and he has loved many of the staff. It has been a pleasure to see him here.
Lisa - June 2012
As a parent, you have to put your trust in those who are looking after your children. For me Emma, Danielle and the rest of the team have looked after Belle with the same attentiveness, love and enthusiasm that a parent would. I have complete trust in the team to do what’s right and to be honest with me regarding the day and progress. I couldn’t wish for a better environment or staff.

It was very hard to make a choice about where to send my child when I went back to work. I visited a lot of settings but always compared them to your nursery which was the first setting that I had seen. The staff, Jeanette and all the fantastic equipment sold the nursery to me!! The staff are always happy and ready to chat and put me at ease instantly when we left Oliver for the first time. The parents evenings and open days make the setting more available to partners that don’t get to see the great work that goes on. My child is really happy to come to nursery and we appreciate the hard work that makes his experiences so great. Thank you.

We can’t thank the staff enough for Mina’s development, wellbeing and happiness whilst being at this nursery! She has been attending since she was 14 months old, and the friends and relationships she has with the staff means she runs down the corridor to her room in the mornings – she loves it! The activities she takes part in are varied, interesting and fun. We are happy to send our second child here too when he is old enough.
