Pre-schoolers also have access to a wonderful touch-screen computer with lots of mathematical and literacy learning tools.
With designated literacy and mathematical areas, we help the children learn about letters, sounds and numbers, by not only having superb resources but by also having an enthusiastic staff team ready to teach the children basic skills. We can accommodate up to twenty-six children in our Pre-School.

The outdoor spaces at Richmond Day Nursery
We are incredibly proud of our Adventure garden, which was a major part of our refurbishment. Children love to scurry inside our tipi – where they read stories with friends or interact through role-play.
Our vegetable and planting patch is fantastic too, and children learn all about healthy eating and how to look after living things.
Whether it’s practising mark-making on our chalk boards and magnetic whiteboards, whizzing around our tarmac track or playing on the Astroturf – which is much safer for children than ordinary grass – the fun just doesn't stop as children investigate and explore at their own pace.

I am very happy to share my views with you both as to why I believe the nursery is outstanding.
There are several nurseries within walking distance of my home so I had a huge amount of choice when I came to choosing a nursery for Max. After visiting many of them, I chose Richmond Day Nursery primarily because of the incredibly friendly attitude of every person I came into contact with from the very first time I walked in. I believe I arrived on the incorrect day for my tour (after a year of sleep deprivation my memory was shocking!) but I was happily accommodated and shown around all the different rooms from the babies to the pre-schoolers. I was given a detailed explanation of how the children would spend their time and shown the truly amazing facilities. I was especially impressed with the all-weather outside area and that the children were always encouraged to play outside at some point during their day.
Max was just one-year-old when he first started nursery and at that time I had never left him with anyone other than family. I took huge comfort from the settling in sessions that the nursery used to ensure the children felt happy and comfortable in their new surroundings. Furthermore, by allocating a key person to Max, it meant that I felt reassured that I always had someone that knew exactly what was going on. Furthermore, there are always detailed notes kept to ensure Max is achieving the important milestones in his development. Kay shares these with me on a regular basis. Max is my only child and I take such comfort that child experts are monitoring him and ensuring he is happy and engaging with the other children as well as learning.
It's not just Max that has benefited from this close bond with his current key person, Kay. Every single time I pick Max up from nursery Kay takes the time to answer any of my seemingly endless questions and to tell me in detail how Max has spent his day, how well he ate and what he has particularly enjoyed doing. When I collect Max he is happy and confident and I can see the genuine affection between him and ALL the members of the team.
When I drop Max off in the morning he sometimes gets upset but there is always a familiar, smiling face to cuddle him and I know that he settles almost as soon as I leave. A big thank you particularly to Shiraya who has done the majority of the morning cuddles.
There is a feeling of real warmth throughout the nursery and all the children are greeted by name when they first walk in the door regardless of which room they are heading to, this gives the nursery a wonderful feeling of community. I particularly enjoy the fluidity between the rooms so the transition to the next room, when Max turns 3 will not be too unsettling for him and again the staff will ensure that Max spends time getting accustomed to the new class before he moves. A great deal of time and effort is put into minimising the children's potential to be unsettled. Max is particularly sensitive and I am so impressed that such care is taken.
Finally, on a personal note, I have had a particularly challenging few months after separating from Max's father and have been very concerned how this may be affecting Max. I have been incredibly touched by the compassion and kindness that Candice and Kayleigh have shown me during this time, I sincerely thank you both for this. Kay has also been endlessly patient whilst reassuring me that Max is not being adversely affected. I suppose the important point to make is that if I hadn't felt so connected and supported as a parent I would never have felt comfortable in sharing such a personal and painful situation with the nursery team and I believe Max has benefited greatly from this level of trust.
I would recommend Richmond Day Nursery without hesitation.

Our daughter joined Asquith's aged 9 months and settled in really well. The staff are kind, loving and professional. Our daughter has a great day with her friends and we know she eats well too. We'd highly recommend this outstanding nursery to everyone.

Our daughter Ava started at Richmond Day Nursery in August and is now full-time there. I cannot believe how quickly she has settled into her new routine. She plays, laughs and now holds her arms out to anyone for a cuddle. She is so happy at nursery and I cannot thank everyone at Richmond Day Nursery enough for making it such a happy and friendly place.
